American Forces Targeted a 'Major Facility' in Venezuela, President Trump Asserted Lacking Providing Specifics.

Former President Donald Trump has stated that American military assets hit a "large plant" in the South American country last week. However, the ex-leader withheld information about the exact nature or site of the target, and there has been no additional comment from his administration.

Unspecific Remarks Made In a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you read – they have a large facility, where the ships originate. The other night, we took it out. So we targeted them very hard," Trump reportedly informed Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Attack

If a US military action is confirmed, it would represent the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a buildup of US military presence in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This original mission of the military buildup has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at stopping the country's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that US forces are ready to expand the operations by hitting targets inside Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require legislative authorization.

A clip shared online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion said to be from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An source allegedly told a news network that the president was describing a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Current Military Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the alleged strike Trump referenced. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of American forces in the region – a stance some have referred to as a naval quarantine – constitutes the largest naval operation of the Trump era.

Sources have avoided from labeling the action as a full blockade, but have stated that about 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to enforce current sanctions.
